onwards summary during recent site activations, two issues have been observed where nile nav is unable to establish or maintain a bluetooth connection with the all nile switches on certain mobile devices the root cause in both cases is a mobile os side bluetooth behaviour on specific ios and android versions issue 1 android 16 on mobile devices running android 16 , the nile nav app fails the activation attempt due to a bluetooth incompatibility introduced in android 16 making it currently incompatible with the nile system ble package crash on nile switches during activation when using android 16 mobile devices issue 2 ios 26 3 1 on iphones running ios 26 3 1 , nile nav cannot initiate a bluetooth connection to the nile switch this is a known ios 26 3 1 issue, already fixed by apple in ios 26 4 2 both issues affect nile nav activation & troubleshooting workflows during the bluetooth pairing step and may prevent activation from starting or completing on affected devices recommendation use mobile devices with different android version than android 16 upgrade to ios versions 26 4 2 or later key findings issue 1 android 16 ble connectivity failure observed on mobile devices using android 16 so far not observed on other android versions root cause ble package crash on nile switches during activation when using android 16 mobile devices issue 2 ios 26 3 1 reproducible on iphones running ios 26 3 1 not observed on ios 26 4 2, 26 2 1, or earlier supported ios versions root cause a known ios 26 3 1 bluetooth issue, fixed by apple in ios 26 4 2 confirmed resolved by upgrading the affected iphone to ios 26 4 2 and reinstalling nile nav impact these issues affect nile nav workflows requiring bluetooth interaction like activation & troubleshooting when using affected mobile devices specifically technicians using android 16 phones may be unable to complete an activation technicians using iphones on ios 26 3 1 may be unable to start the bluetooth pairing step in nile nav delays in first time activations and additional troubleshooting time on site no impact to deployed, operational nile networks these issues are limited to the nile nav activation and on site troubleshooting workflow affected platforms platform affected version / device issue ios ios 26 3 1 ble connection does not initiate android android 16 ble package crash on device nile firmware all versions nav unable to communicate with the device nile hardware affects all nile switches requiring ble interaction with nile nav nav unable to communicate with the device note issue affecting ios models iphone 16 pro max, iphone 17 pro issue affecting android models pixel 6a, pixel 10 pro xl, samsung s26 ultra this list is indicative but not exhaustive actions required to avoid encountering these issues, please follow the mandatory sop below before starting any activation or on site troubleshooting step 1 check your mobile device before starting any nile nav activation, identify your phone's os and version ahead of time android settings → about phone → android version ios settings → general → about → ios version step 2 apply the correct path if you are on android 16 do not proceed with nile nav activation using this device/version use a mobile device with a different android version until system fix is available if no alternative device is available, contact nile support before attempting activation if you are on ios 26 3 1 upgrade to ios 26 4 2 before proceeding settings → general → software update → install ios 26 4 2 (or later) after the ios upgrade, delete and reinstall the nile nav app from the app store retry the activation / troubleshooting if you are on any other supported version, proceed as normal troubleshooting tips if you encounter a suspected bluetooth issue during activation confirm your mobile device's os and version against the affected platforms table above if on android 16 stop and switch to a compatible device do not retry on the same android 16 phone a reboot of the nile switch may be required to recover if on ios 26 3 1 upgrade ios to 26 4 2 (or later), delete and reinstall nile nav, then retry the activation when reporting any new occurrence to nile support, please share mobile device model, mobile os version, nile nav app version, and the nile switch serial number next steps / resolution plan
